The QC’s Legend
In 1963 Quinlan’s Seafood family business began exporting fish all over the world. Some of their top clients included Auchan in France and El Corte Ingles in Spain. Quinlan’s operate their own fishing trawlers from Valentia Harbour, Co Kerry and they safeguard healthy sustainable marine ecosystems.
In the late 1980s Quinlan’s Seafood opened two fish shops in Cahersiveen and Killorglin. It was here that the Quinlan name became synonymous with quality and freshness, their fish was second to none and word quickly spread. This early success led to further expansion.
In April 2000, husband and wife team, Kate Quinlan and Andrew Cooke, opened up QC’s Seafood Restaurant and Bar in Cahersiveen, on the Ring of Kerry. QC’s menu features ultra-fresh seafood with a good choice of daily blackboard specials. Mouth-watering offerings include crabs claws and crab meat, sizzling “Dingle Prawns” and baby squid every day. Chef Eddie Gannon puts the winning touches to present top class dishes.
Quinlan’s added a further two more fish shops in Tralee and Killarney in 2009, with the Tralee shop winning National Seafood Specialist of the year in 2011.
Kate and Andrew decided to extend the QC’s offering in 2010 and so QC’s Townhouse was created. Offering quirky boutique style rooms in the town centre of Cahersiveen, guests to QC’s could now relax and unwind overnight in the leading food destination in South Kerry. In addition to rooms, great food and access to the charms of an authentic rural Irish town, QC’s offers shooting, fishing, walking, and golfing breaks. It recently became the preferred supplier for food and accommodation to the Peninsula Pass, where three rounds of golf are offered for 99 Euros at Dooks, Skellig Bay and The Ring of Kerry Golf Clubs.
Quinlan’s also opened a Seafood Bar in Killarney Town Centre which serves high quality fast food and this business model was replicated in Tralee Town Centre in 2012. Quinlan’s now operate four award-winning fish shops, two seafood bar restaurants, plus an online fish market and retail product line.
For three generations the Quinlan family has proudly upheld it’s tradition of serving the highest-quality, freshest fish at great value. By supplying their own fish direct from their own boat operators, Quinlan’s and QC’s set the industry standard for freshness and purity.
QC’s was named the BIM Seafood restaurant of the Year in 2012, beating a wealth of top class Irish seafood outlets for the honour. QC’s have won the Best Casual Dining Award in the National Hospitality Awards and were awarded Highly Commended in the Seafood Restaurant category in the Good Food Ireland Awards in 2013.
